Pix broke a new record for transactions in a single day, reported the Central Bank (BC)
On Wednesday (6/9), the day before a holiday, the instant transfer and payment system created by the BC registered 152.7 million transactions.
Pix ‘s previous record was reached on August 4, with 142.4 million operations on the platform.
The numbers reinforce the strong adherence of people and companies to Pix, a means of payment launched by BC in November 2020, says the monetary authority.
According to the BC, by August 2023, Pix had 650.7 million registered keys and had 153.3 million users.
Earlier this week, the BC announced that Pix could be expanded for use at toll booths, parking lots or public transport .
“The use of new technologies that make the payment experience even faster can be beneficial mainly in some specific use cases, such as toll payments on highways, parking lots and public transport”, informs the BC.
The monetary authority also states that Pix should be used in international operations, enabling payments between companies and purchases of goods and services abroad.
A few weeks ago, the president of the BC, Roberto Campos Neto, said that Pix could become an alternative to a credit card .
